About

Brinley Knowles

Brinley Knowles, she/they, grew up playing pretend in the forest. Now, forced with facing adulthood, they turned their love for pretend into writing books. Brinley is a queer neurodivergent author with an interest in podcasts, history, research, and Dungeons & Dragons.

Brinley mostly writes character-driven middle grade books with an emphasis on the neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ experience. They write their books with the intention of creating the stories they hoped to read as a child. This is why most of their works feature LGBTQ+ characters and characters with learning disabilities.

They graduated in May 2020 from Maryville College with a double-major in Writing Communication and History. In 2022, they graduated with an MFA in Writing for Children at Simmons University.

When they aren’t writing, Brinley loves reading, protecting the environment, studying history, cosplaying, playing Dungeons & Dragons, watching anime, appreciating the Arts, and playing with her dog, Piper.

Fun Fact: Piper is named after Piper McLean from The Heroes of Olympus series.
